Lake Monster Big Muscamoot Lottery Details

Alright…we’re fresh back from San Diego Comic Con and, as promised, are holding an email lottery to sell off a few pieces of the Lake Monsters Big Muscamoot releases from SDCC and Wonderfest.

There are four versions available via this lottery (left to right): Fire on the Water Version, Booskamoot Version, Unpainted Factory Reject Orange Version and Unpainted Factory Reject Green Version.

To enter the lottery, send an email to lottery@thelakemonsters.com stating which version or versions you’d like to buy. Deadline for entry is August 11, 2009. At that time we’ll draw names (if the number of pieces available is less than entries) and send payment links to the winners. Thanks!

Fire on the Water and Booskamoot will be $60 each. Unpainted Factory Rejects will be $30 each.

What was originally meant to be the very first Lake Monster is now a reality! A little bit of trouble with the first batch of vinyl we received delayed this release but we’ve re-grouped, got new vinyl and won’t ever trust that factory with glue again. Orange vinyl with red, orange and yellow sprays. FIRE.

Releases Saturday at 12 Noon
Chris Ryniak will be signing from Noon until 1:45 pm

The Lake Monsters Big Muscamoot
Booskamoot Tribute Version

This tribute to one of our favorite Japanese pop culture characters is a dual release at SDCC as well as at Wonder Festival in Japan. Orange base vinyl with ivory, brown and yellow sprays and a fine misting of silver paint to give a rad pearlescent finish.

These are the not-so-perfect pieces of vinyl our factory sent us (the reason the Fire on the Water Release was delayed). Some have ill-fitting arms, some have glue drips, some just aren’t right….so we’re selling them off cheap! Mostly they look pretty darn good, they just weren’t good enough to be made into final releases (we’re picky). DIY anyone?

Seaweed Muscamoot Sold Out

Our first release, LM001B, aka Big Muscamoot – Seaweed Version is officially sold out. We’ll be working on getting LM001A (Fire on the Water Version) done in time for a pre-SDCC release, but we’re not sure when we’ll have it done. It might have to be an SDCC release. We’ll see.

Regardless, thank you everyone who purchased a Lake Monster today…as well as everyone else who has expressed interest in the project. And finally, congrats to Chris Ryniak, designer and sculptor of Big Muscamoot, on the quick sellout of our first release!

Second Lake Monster Release, First

So, you know how we said that “Fire on the Water” would be our first Lake Monster release? Well, funny thing is we ran into a little bump in the road so it’s delayed for a bit…so we’re promoting Lake Monster LM001B (aka “Seaweed”) to lead-off status.

This green and blue monster (designed and sculpted by Chris Ryniak with paint by Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi) will be available at Rotofugi-Chicago on Friday, June 5 when we open the doors (noon) and online at rotofugi.com a little bit later that same day. Thanks everyone for being patient! We’ll post a final price soon. Price will be $60.

Big Muscamoot is 6.25 inches tall, FYI.

First Lake Monster Release

Here’s the paint sample of our very first Lake Monster release. The sculpt is “Big Muscamoot” by Chris Ryniak. This version is LM001A, aka “Fire on the Water.” At least that’s what we’re calling it for the moment. We’ll be finalizing the release date shortly (hint: it should be pretty soon).

Getting Closer

Our first release is getting closer…estimating 3-4 weeks from now. Maybe less, maybe more.

First Pulled Vinyl!

TLM001 production report: First pulls of The Lake Monster’s Big Muscamoot figure have been made. If you happen to be in San Francisco at Wondercon this weekend don’t miss the chance to see it in person. Barring of course any trouble with UPS & customs.
